Dear People, I'm speaking from experience here. If You try to read the Bible like a regular book You will get through about the first three books, the reading will get hard and tedious, You won't understand, and then You'll give up. The Old Testament won't make sense to You because You don't have the heritage or the historical background needed to understand It. The New Testament on the other hand is the fulfillment of the Old Testament and as such reads as a commentary for the Old Testament; and through the New Testament You can begin to understand what the Old Testament is all about. We are grafted in to the Old Testament through the New Testament; so read the New Testament first and then You'll begin to understand the Old Testament. |
